As with music, pyrotechnics and fireworks can be synchronised with the laser show, a special electronic device called an interface connects the computer to ignition devices called in the industry electric matches.

The Interface is a clever box of tricks that converts a low power digital signal from the computer into a usable voltage, the interface also delivers the voltage selectively to many pairs of wires, for example the interface may have 300 pairs of wires all going to match heads, the show designer knows what fireworks are connected to any one pair.

The electric match looks very much like a match head with the addition of two thin wires that deliver the electric supply to the match head.
